Q: Are certifications required to design a fire alarm system?
A: It is important to have your fire alarm consultant familiar with the proper codes and standards of fire alarms. FireQuest has the distinction of being certified from the National Institute for Certified Technologies (NICET). It is also recommended to involve the Fire Marshal with any decisions.

Q: How often are fire alarm and sprinkler systems required to be tested & re-certified?
A: The Office of State Fire Marshal requires these systems to be inspected and tested in accordance with NFPA on an annual basis by a certified contractor in their respective field.

Q: What’s involved with performing a fire drill?
A: • raising the alarm and action on hearing the alarm;
• calling the fire and rescue service;
• evacuating and accounting for staff, contractors and members of the public;
• notifying essential personnel and co-ordinating emergency action;
• isolating or disconnecting services;
• firefighting and controlling heat and smoke;
• debriefing and recording the event.

Q: Why is there a “Yellow Tag” on the front of my control panel?
A: There is an impairment of the system but does not render the system non-functional.
